Ologist is a Philippine-centric science media organization that aims to make science and innovation more accessible to the local community. We tell stories that are socially and culturally relevant to Filipinos through the perspectives of science.
Our vision is to create a nurturing and conducive environment for research communication and science literacy to thrive in the Philippines by telling stories that touch on the intersectionality of science with the world and humankind.
We are driven by our mission to provide scientific perspectives on current and culturally relevant social issues that appeal to and are easily understood by as many Filipinos as possible—regardless of generation or academic background.
Dab currently works in the research-communication arm of De La Salle University (DLSU) where he also finished his degree in Manufacturing Engineering and Management. As an undergraduate, he founded DLSU’s student publication’s sci-tech and multimedia arms while he served as editor. Dab began his professional communications career as a staff at the Philippine Department of Science and Technology in 2023 and was a Science Communication Intern at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis in Austria in 2024. He is a zillennial dinosaur who loves folk dance.
Ramon Castañeda

Erinne is a neuroscientist with a keen interest in brain circuitry, cancer, and cognition. At the German Cancer Research Center, her PhD project targets the network communication patterns of brain tumors that contribute to treatment resistance. Previously, she wrote for a Singapore-based STEM media company and has served as Editor in Chief of her university’s campus publication. Beyond the lab, Erinne is engaged in fostering accessible education, STEM mentorship and outreach, and science literacy.

Kathy is a Behavioral Sciences graduate from De La Salle University and an MBA alumna of the Asian Institute of Management. With a focus on marketing, she specializes in visual strategy and design, bringing her expertise to industries ranging from consulting to technology. Her experience spans product management, brand identity development, and content creation. Passionate about sustainability, Kathy is also dedicated to shedding light on the Filipino food scene.

Trina is a Graphic Designer in the Visual Display & Design department of SM Supermalls Head Office where she works on signages, thematic setups, enclosures, and the like for malls nationwide. She started doing design work through creating layout design at her school’s student publication and hand-lettered content for her church’s youth services. Her design experience was strengthened by working in the mall industry. She expresses her creativity through her Instagram layouts and lettering content.

Drew is a multimedia journalist who focuses on local and international lifestyle and entertainment. He holds a degree in Communication Arts. In his final year as an undergraduate, he served as the Editor in Chief of his university’s official yearbook publication where he was able to strengthen his skills in production processes and marketing. Apart from being a writer, Drew is experienced in hosting, photography, and social media content creation through which he expresses his passion in making science accessible for everyone in the country.

Ryle is a licensed electronics engineer who is currently employed at Ciena, a telecommunications company, where he is able to enhance his skills in sales, communication, and marketing. As an undergraduate, Ryle was active in different organizations and consistently engaged in competitions such as hackathons and ideathons. He is a firm believer that science and technology must be accesible to all. Beyond the professional setting, Ryle likes to travel, cook, do physical activities, and have leisure time with loved ones.

Melissa is a recent International Studies graduate from Kyung Hee University whose primary interests are conflict resolution and human rights. As the former Editor in Chief at a local edtech startup and Chief of Research at an environmental NGO, she has experience in research, writing, and social media content generation. Passionate about the intersection between science and society, Melissa aims to contribute to the development of holistic, research-backed solutions for upholding human security.

Ryan is a software developer who recently worked at Emerson, Procter & Gamble, and KadaKareer, a startup that aims to make career development more accessible to Filipinos. He is a Computer Engineering graduate from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He also took various leadership positions in university-wide and national initiatives ranging from marketing and publicity to operations and technicals. Outside work, he enjoys culinary and performing arts, sports, literature, and anime.

EJ is a CPA practicing client accounting and tax compliance with PwC – Philippines. Equipped with an RQF Level 4 Certification from the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants UK, he has global accreditations in the fields of Financial Accounting, Business and Technology, Management Accounting, Financial Reporting, and Financial Management. He is a well-rounded individual with experiences in literary and editorial writing, public speaking, and swimming as a competitive sport.

Bobby is an Industrial Engineering graduate from De La Salle University. During his time at university, he was involved in Archers Network, a student media organization, where he served as a public relations associate and photographer. He later became the organization’s president, where he oversaw operations and led initiatives. Currently, he works as a Space Planning Supervisor at Watsons, managing store performance and layouts. Outside work, Bobby enjoys photography, focusing on events and street-themed photos.

Nadine is currently on the development team for the Philippine Space Agency’s next student-made satellite: the Maya-7 2U CubeSat. Her research interests include satellite engineering, renewable energy, and power systems. In addition to that, she is a knowledge base specialist for an Australian software company. With an undergraduate degree in Robotics and a soon-to-be graduate degree in Nanosatellite Engineering, she is working on making her love for science fiction manifest its way into reality.

He has extensive experience working with NGOs and government institutions, ensuring effective communication and enhanced cultural understanding. A strong advocate of making science accessible to the public, Pete is also pursuing a degree in veterinary medicine, blending his love for learning with his dedication to science.

Jasper recently graduated from De La Salle University (DLSU) with a Bachelor of Science in Physics. As an undergraduate, he served as a staffer and eventually as the editor of Vanguard, the sci-tech section of DLSU’s official student publication. He is currently taking a gap year before grad school and works part-time as an administrative assistant for IET, a New Orleans-based tech and engineering company. He is a spaceflight and sci-fi enthusiast with frankly too many hours logged on Steam.

Pia is an illustrator who creates whimsical art and colors to tell heartwarming stories. She is also a certified Expressive Arts Facilitator, utilizing different kinds of art forms as a way for individuals to heal and express themselves. As a Psychology graduate, Pia uses art as her voice to advocate for mental health and self-compassion with one’s healing journey. Aside from these, she is an art and research teacher at a progressive school that advocates for inclusion and peace education.

With an advocacy for environmentalism and sustainability, she interned under the Center for Empowerment, iNnovation and Training on Renewable Energy to spread awareness about renewable energy in the Philippines. She was also a layout artist and editor at her school’s student publication. Outside of her work, Sofia’s other hobbies include playing gacha games and reading manga.
